Wow what a whirlwind of a week. Can I please have a Mother’s Day weekend-do-over? It just went too fast.
But life has been so fun lately! Our sweet 8 month old started crawling, we went away for a little vacation over the weekend, a Moana birthday party for our girl is happening this weekend and we have 3 design jobs underway!
So with all that to say – sorry if I seem a little frazzled lately. But I really want to share with you my very favorite project that we are working on: Essence of Coffee.
Dale the owner is a great guy from Australia with a killer coffee shop in Rapid City. And his coffee is the best in town! We are shifting the overall design of his coffee shop to a modern industrial style.
Here are some before photos I snapped quickly with my iPhone.
Once we got in there Rozalyn and I started with whitewashing the red brick. It was much easier than we thought. We just sprayed the brick with water then painted a 50/50 water/paint mixture on the walls and ta da. There were a few bricks that didn’t have much texture so we used a rag to wipe off some of the paint and add a textured look.
Then we put our helpers to work with painting the shiplap. (Thank you Mary, Brittany and Anna!)
Next we decided to lower these really cool existing lights to create a more intimate setting. And because they were so high they had collected a bit of dust.
Just a little wipe down and they were as good as new.
And I think it transformed this space beautifully.
Next up we put the very talented Mr. Greg to work hanging the sign. This sign was from Dale’s old roasting facility. It was sitting outside his shop and I was so excited when he approved my idea to hang it inside.
And before we passed out from exhaustion we hung up the cutest little plant and rearranged all the furniture.
The next morning I swung by to grab a coffee and snapped a quick pic.
I’m so excited with the way it turned out! I seriously cannot wait to start the next phase of the remodel! Stay tuned because it’s going to be awesome.
